NEW! Thank You! So many thanks to the Gordon family for their donation of a new monitor for our lower campus lobby! And, as an added bonus, they installed it and got it up and running! Wowza! Thank you!

NEW! Updated Health Records If you have not already done so, please submit a copy of your child’s most recent physical exam and immunization record as soon as possible. Health records can be mailed directly to the school or emailed to our school nurses, Mrs. Sheehan ([email protected]) on the lower campus or Miss Thibault ([email protected]) on the upper campus. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our medical records up to date!

This year, we will be creating one cheer squad for students in grades 3-8 who will be cheering at our upper campus boys and girls basketball games. Practice days will be determined once the team sign-up has finished. The squad is limited to 20 students and there will be an additional fee for participants. Please sign up one child per slot using the Sign-Up Genius HERE! Deadline is Friday, October 21.  Gooooo Wildcats!

NEW! CYO (grades 3 - 6)  Basketball Interest Form – The NH CYO basketball program is run under the direction of the Diocese of Manchester's Diocesan Athletic Board and provides students a competitive basketball experience with emphasis on the areas of sportsmanship, physical exercise, and teamwork. Saint Chris offers three teams: grades 3 & 4 co-ed, grades 5 & 6 boys, and grades 5 & 6 girls.

Planning for this year's CYO basketball season is underway. The season runs from November through March. To help us determine the demand for the program, please complete the survey HERE by Wednesday, October 19th if your child is interested in CYO basketball and/or you are interested in coaching!

NEW! Basketball Open Gym - All interested basketball players in grades 3 - 6 are invited to come shoot around and practice some skills on Tuesday October 18th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at the upper campus gym.

NEW! Lower Campus Popcorn - Starting Friday, October 21, students at the lower campus will be able to purchase a bag of fresh popped popcorn for snack every Friday! Each bag is 75¢. NEW! Halloween Free Dress - Monday, October 31 will be a booooo-tiful day on both campuses as our kids dress in their favorite orange, black, and white Free Dress outfits! Please keep our Free Dress rules in mind when picking out an outfit. Those rules can be found in our online Parent-Student Handbook HERE for the lower campus and HERE for the upper campus.

NEW!  Parent Alert System  As we do every year, we will be doing a test run of our Parent Alert system for both campuses on Friday, October 28 at 10:00 AM. We use Parent Alert for sending out mass communications, including text messages, robocalls and emails, to notify you of weather-related school closings, as well as any emergency information we might need to get to parents in a timely manner. To ensure you are able to receive our text alerts, please text the keyword “START” to 31706 from your cell phone. Any text alerts from our school will begin with “SCA Alert” and calls will show from “603-882-7442”.

On the 28th, we will send out a test message to all parents using all forms of communication. Therefore, you should expect to receive several versions of this test message, both through your phone and email. If you do NOT receive the messages, please contact Marta at [email protected].

Note: Per Telephone Consumer Protection Act we have to provide all recipients the option to Opt Out of receiving our text alerts. Anytime we send out a text alert you will see “Stop to End”. If you reply “Stop” you will no longer receive ANY text alerts from Saint Chris.

NEW!  Auction Committee  We had a GREAT first Auction Committee meeting last week! It's not too late to get involved and we can always use the help! Our next meeting is Thursday, November 3rd at 7:00 PM at the upper campus. If you can't make that meeting but would still like to be involved, please email Marta at [email protected] to be added to the Auction email list!

THIS WEEK! Hot Lunch Ordering for November- Hot Lunch ordering for November closes at midnight THIS Saturday, October 15.  Since we can not accommodate orders placed after midnight on the 15th, please be sure to log in early just in case you run into technical issues. Orders are not placed until you complete the entire ordering process and receive a confirmation email from Boonli.

2023-2024 Tuition Rates – The School Board has set the tuition rates for the 2023-2024 school year. Please see the letter from Mrs. Clarke outlining the rates HERE. Registration for current students for the 2023-2024 school year will take place from January 1 to 15, 2023.

COVID – We have recently seen an uptick in COVID cases on both campuses. If your child is not feeling well, please keep him or her home from school and do a home COVID test. Results should be reported to our school nurses, Mrs. Sheehan ([email protected]) on the lower campus or Miss Thibault ([email protected]) on the upper campus. If a child is positive, he or she must stay out of school for 5 days from the test date and wear a mask for an additional 5 days. Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe and healthy!

Congratulations to 3rd Grade! – Mrs. Fessenden is excited to announce that the Nashua Community College campus has installed a temporary public display of art created last year by our current 3rd grade students! The display is in the main building of the NCC campus outside room 125. Emulating the work of Louise Nevelson, students created a large American flag from scrap paper and cardboard. Students and their parents are invited to attend a gallery show and reception on October 20 from 4:00-6:00 PM at NCC.

Parent Attendance at Mass – All parents are invited to attend all masses on both campuses! The mass calendar for the year can be found HERE. For security reasons, parents at the lower campus must enter through the school and sign in at the front desk before going to the church. Parents at the upper campus should enter through the gym lobby doors and sign in there.

Lower Campus School Store – Our lower campus school store will now be open most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 8:45 AM. (Thank you, Mrs. Gordon!) Stock is a bit low at the moment, but new merchandise is on order!

Student Names on Items – We are just a month into school and our Lost and Found at the lower campus is overflowing! Please be sure to put your child’s name on EVERYTHING, but especially on school sweatshirts. We have an abundance of brand new sweatshirts with no names in Lost and Found….yikes!

Student Record Changes It is vitally important that we keep all of our student and family records up-to-date! Please remember to inform us of ANY changes in demographics like address, email, phone number, etc. for both students and families as soon as possible! Changes can be sent to Jackie Langenfeld ([email protected]) at the lower campus and Sue Coker ([email protected]) at the upper campus. In addition, if there is a change in custodial rights, IEP/ISP/504 plans, or other legal documents, please inform Mrs. Clarke ([email protected]) or Mrs. Gauvin ([email protected]).

Lower Campus Drop-off - The safety of our students is of utmost importance. We ask ALL parents to continue to follow our drop-off procedures, even if a teacher is not monitoring the traffic flow! No exceptions should be made, even if a parent is running late or it is “easier” to go a different way. In particular, please remember:

  • No u-turns on Cushing Ave at any time. All traffic should enter Cushing Ave from the corner by the church and continue straight after dropping students off in front of school. Cushing Ave. is an incredibly busy street and we have had several near accidents when parents make a u-turn before or after dropping off their child. In a related note, please do not use one of our neighbor’s driveways or the teacher’s parking lot to turn around. Like a u-turn, this puts you and our students at risk, as well as blocking traffic.

  • Do not park your car in front of the school and walk your child up to the school. If your child needs a little extra time or you would like to walk him or her to the door, please pull around back and park in the back parking lot.

  • Prek to grade 1 parents dropping off in the back parking lot should not make a left hand turn coming out of the back parking lot. ALL traffic should exit straight down Hill St.. You can turn left at the end of the block onto Dinsmore St. which will take you directly to Cushing Ave.

High School Testing Prep Course Due to many scheduling conflicts for both teachers and students, we will not be holding our high school testing prep course this year. To help students prepare, Bishop Guertin has kindly shared the link HERE for students to practice tests on their own and parents may also purchase the test prep book HERE for students to practice.

School Bus App – Does your student ride the bus? First Student, the school bus company, is now using FirstView App at no cost to parents. FirstView allows parents to track school bus arrival in real time. You may download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. To complete registration, you will need to know that the Nashua School District Code is ZS4L. Please contact FirstView directly with any questions about the app.

Cleaning out your kids' closets?  The weather is changing so it's time to break out the warmer clothes!  If you find that your kids have outgrown any of their fall and winter clothing, please set it aside for our KIDS FALL/WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE.  Any fall or winter clothing newborn through size 14 will be gratefully received.  Jackets, coats, boots, and shoes are especially welcome.  Please be sure items are clean and in good condition.  Items will be donated to the Grey Nuns Thrift Shop which works with local agencies to provide necessities for their clients.  Collection boxes will be at both campuses later next week.  Thanks for your generosity!

Applications for 2023-2024 - Do you have a younger child who will be ready for PreK or Kindergarten next year or another older child who you’d like to attend Saint Chris? Do you know a family who would like to join the Saint Chris community next year? We will begin accepting applications for new students for the 2023-2024 school year on Saturday, October 1! Veteran families can complete a new student application through their Family Portal. New families should start the process HERE. Note: Re-enrollment for current students will take place starting on January 1, 2023, but we will be accepting new students for open seats next year based on current enrollment numbers.
