Cheer Coach Bios 22-23

Matt Brindley:

Hello parents!  My name is Matt Brindley, and my wife, Elizabeth, and I just moved to Nashua from Harrisburg, Pa.  I am originally from New Jersey, where I was the school mascot at Toms River High School East.  Being the school mascot opened my eyes to the world of competitive, co-ed cheerleading.  My senior year we had 12 boys and 12 girls on our large, co-ed squad, and would eventually go on to win the Walt Disney World Grand National Championship in March of 1995.  Later that year, I would then go on to the York College of Pa., where I would do both sideline and competitive cheer for the over next 4 years.

During my time at York, I would be a 3-time Captain, and win the Golden Spartan Award for competing in 4 years of Varsity sports.   Also, I would be asked to judge some of the local high school and middle school cheerleading tryouts and competitions.  This would then lead to one summer as a Cheer Camp Instructor for the Philadelphia based American Champion Cheerleading in 1999.  In 2001, I would be the Interim Stunt Coach for the Toms River Angles Junior Pee Wee Competition Squad.

Last year, my daughter Samantha (8) decided she wanted to get into cheerleading.   This would lead me to being an Asst. Cheer Coach for both the Central Penn Crusaders and at the Holy Name of Jesus School.  Also, I would coach Samantha in softball, and my son Jack (10) and his baseball teams the 3 years prior.

As a coach, I have a firm belief that cheerleading should be a fun and friendly place, where teamwork rules!   I hope that you and your student will consider joining our newly forming cheer squad here at Saint Christopher Academy, and help us cheer on our Boys and Girls Basketball Teams.

Jaclyn Leland:

My name is Coach Leland and I’m very excited to bring back cheerleading to Saint Christopher Academy! My two children currently attend the lower campus, Addyson in 3rd grade and Wesley in 2nd grade. I’m a pharmacist at Southern NH Health and I teach an aerobics class at the YMCA. I started cheerleading at the age of 11 with CYO and continued through to junior high school and then on to Bishop Guertin high school cheering for football and basketball. We’ll focus on teambuilding and identifying each child’s unique skills that will contribute to a positive teamwork environment. I have so many wonderful memories and made great friendships during my cheering years and can’t wait to help the kids do the same!
