Science Teacher Opening

Middle School Science - Immediate Opening

Saint Christopher Academy is seeking a dynamic 8th grade science teacher. Must perform the delivery of specified course content, use effective strategies for differentiation, interact positively, professionally, show respect with students and parents, expect students to learn and not fail, actively engage students in lessons that are planned around grade level expectations and enhance critical thinking skills. Teacher will implement instructional strategies that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences. The effective teacher inspires and empowers students in their own learning and collaborates with their peers regularly to align curriculum and enhance the instructional environment towards gains in student performance goals. Professional obligations of teachers are met through continuous pursuit of new understanding of teaching and learning, reflection on their own practices and beliefs and through efficient work habits for planning lessons, meeting deadlines and honoring schedules.

Our eighth grade physical science course engages students through a blend of inquiry, hands-on/minds-on and group activities that provide students a foundation in both physics and chemistry. Students study scientific processes, Newton’s Laws of Motion, gravity, work, power, simple machines, matter, atoms, the periodic table, chemical bonding and reactions, as well as chemical compounds.  The metric-based laboratory work begun in seventh grade is continued and expanded.  Students will complete a special project to be displayed in the Annual Science Fair.

All applicants must be NH certified teachers or eligible for certification by the NH Department of Education. The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Background Check and an online course entitled “Safe Haven” before beginning employment.
