NEW! Thank You! Thank you to our Portrait Day volunteers today….Liz Cyran, Carol Cyran, and Julie Knapp...for keeping us all in order and getting portraits done in record time!

NEW! 2023-2024 Tuition Rates The School Board has set the tuition rates for the 2023-2024 school year. Please see the letter from Mrs. Clarke outlining the rates HERE. Registration for current students for the 2023-2024 school year will take place from January 1 to 15, 2023.

THIS WEEK! Upcoming NO SCHOOL Days- Please remember that we will have NO school THIS Friday, October 7 and NEXT Monday, October 10. Friday is a professional development day for our teachers, and Monday is the Columbus Day holiday!

THIS WEEK! Lower Campus Progress Reports - Paper lower campus Progress Reports will be distributed tomorrow, October 5.

NEW! COVID We have recently seen an uptick in COVID cases on both campuses. If your child is not feeling well, please keep him or her home from school and do a home COVID test. Results should be reported to our school nurses, Mrs. Sheehan ([email protected]) on the lower campus or Miss Thibault ([email protected]) on the upper campus. If a child is positive, he or she must stay out of school for 5 days from the test date and wear a mask for an additional 5 days. Thank you for helping us keep our students and staff safe and healthy!

NEW! Congratulations to 3rd Grade! Mrs. Fessenden is excited to announce that the Nashua Community College campus has installed a temporary public display of art created last year by our current 3rd grade students! The display is in the main building of the NCC campus outside room 125. Emulating the work of Louise Nevelson, students created a large American flag from scrap paper and cardboard. Students and their parents are invited to attend a gallery show and reception on October 20 from 4:00-6:00 PM at NC.

NEW! Parent Attendance at Mass All parents are invited to attend all masses on both campuses! The mass calendar for the year can be found HERE. For security reasons, parents at the lower campus must enter through the school and sign in at the front desk before going to the church. Parents at the upper campus should enter through the gym lobby doors and sign in there.

NEW! Lower Campus School Store Our lower campus school store will now be open most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 to 8:45 AM. (Thank you, Mrs. Gordon!) Stock is a bit low at the moment, but new merchandise is on order!

NEW! Student Names on Items We are just a month into school and our Lost and Found at the lower campus is overflowing! Please be sure to put your child’s name on EVERYTHING, but especially on school sweatshirts. We have an abundance of brand new sweatshirts with no names in Lost and Found….yikes!

NEW! Hot Lunch Volunteers We have two openings for Friday Hot Lunch volunteers at the lower campus:

Friday, Team C on 10/14, 12/9, 1/13, 2/10, 3/17, 4/14 and 5/19

Friday, Team D on 10/21, 11/18, 12/16, 1/20, 2/17, 4/21, and 5/26

If you can help on either of those shifts, please email Marta at [email protected]. Thank you!

NEW! Student Record Changes It is vitally important that we keep all of our student and family records up-to-date! Please remember to inform us of ANY changes in demographics like address, email, phone number, etc. for both students and families as soon as possible! Changes can be sent to Jackie Langenfeld ([email protected]) at the lower campus and Sue Coker ([email protected]) at the upper campus. In addition, if there is a change in custodial rights, IEP/ISP/504 plans, or other legal documents, please inform Mrs. Clarke ([email protected]) or Mrs. Gauvin ([email protected]).

NEW! Lower Campus Drop-off - The safety of our students is of utmost importance. We ask ALL parents to continue to follow our drop-off procedures, even if a teacher is not monitoring the traffic flow! No exceptions should be made, even if a parent is running late or it is “easier” to go a different way. In particular, please remember:

  • No u-turns on Cushing Ave at any time. All traffic should enter Cushing Ave from the corner by the church and continue straight after dropping students off in front of school. Cushing Ave. is an incredibly busy street and we have had several near accidents when parents make a u-turn before or after dropping off their child. In a related note, please do not use one of our neighbor’s driveways or the teacher’s parking lot to turn around. Like a u-turn, this puts you and our students at risk, as well as blocking traffic.

  • Do not park your car in front of the school and walk your child up to the school. If your child needs a little extra time or you would like to walk him or her to the door, please pull around back and park in the back parking lot.

  • Prek to grade 1 parents dropping off in the back parking lot should not make a left hand turn coming out of the back parking lot. ALL traffic should exit straight down Hill St.. You can turn left at the end of the block onto Dinsmore St. which will take you directly to Cushing Ave.

NEW! High School Testing Prep Course Due to many scheduling conflicts for both teachers and students, we will not be holding our high school testing prep course this year. To help students prepare, Bishop Guertin has kindly shared the link HERE for students to practice tests on their own and parents may also purchase the test prep book HERE for students to practice.

NEW! School Bus App Does your student ride the bus? First Student, the school bus company, is now using FirstView App at no cost to parents. FirstView allows parents to track school bus arrival in real time. You may download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. To complete registration, you will need to know that the Nashua School District Code is ZS4L. Please contact FirstView directly with any questions about the app.

NEW! Cleaning out your kids' closets?  The weather is changing so it's time to break out the warmer clothes!  If you find that your kids have outgrown any of their fall and winter clothing, please set it aside for our KIDS FALL/WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE.  Any fall or winter clothing newborn through size 14 will be gratefully received.  Jackets, coats, boots, and shoes are especially welcome.  Please be sure items are clean and in good condition.  Items will be donated to the Grey Nuns Thrift Shop which works with local agencies to provide necessities for their clients.  Collection boxes will be at both campuses later next week.  Thanks for your generosity!

Applications for 2023-2024 - Do you have a younger child who will be ready for PreK or Kindergarten next year or another older child who you’d like to attend Saint Chris? Do you know a family who would like to join the Saint Chris community next year? We will begin accepting applications for new students for the 2023-2024 school year on Saturday, October 1! Veteran families can complete a new student application through their Family Portal. New families should start the process HERE. Note: Re-enrollment for current students will take place starting on January 1, 2023, but we will be accepting new students for open seats next year based on current enrollment numbers.

Dogs at Pick-up - While we all love our furry friends, parents are asked to refrain from bringing dogs to lower campus pick-up. Some of our young students are quite afraid of dogs and having them there….whether in the car or in the parking lot…is creating a stressful end of the day for these students. In addition, please remember that at no time (drop-off or while on a walk) should a dog be allowed to “relieve” himself on school grounds. Thank you!

NEXT WEEK! Upper Campus National Junior Honor Society Induction - The induction ceremony for our newest members of the National Junior Honor Society will take place on Tuesday, October 11th at 6:30 PM in the upper campus gymnasium. Families of NJHS inductees are invited to attend! Students should dress up appropriately for the occasion!

TOMORROW NIGHT! Auction Committee Meeting - It’s time to start planning for the event of the year! Our 19th Annual Auction will take place on Saturday, March 15 at the Event Center in Nashua. Those who attended last year can attest…this is an amazing evening in support of the school and its students… full of live and silent auctions, raffles, delicious dinner, and more! The Auction Committee has a GREAT time putting the event together and we’d love to have any and all parents join us! Due to staff illness, the first meeting of the Auction Committee has been postponed to tomorrow, Thursday, October 6 at 7:00 PM at the upper campus. Please email Marta at [email protected] for more information…or just come to the meeting! (P.S. Our first order of business at the meeting will be to pick a theme…come with ideas!)

NEW! Congratulations! Brian Lester, husband of upper campus teacher Andrea Lester was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Manchester on September 17. Please join us in congratulating Brian and thanking him for accepting God’s call to this wonderful vocation!
