¡HOLA! ¡ BIENVENIDOS A LA CLASE DE ESPAÑOL!
Hola. My name is Carmen Bichrest. Everyone at school calls me señora B. This is my 10th year working at St. Chris teaching Spanish to the kids. I am from Puerto Rico. I live in Nashua with my husband and my daughter in a bilingual home. I am a certified teacher in Spanish. I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychology, a Master degree in Special Education, and a Graduate degree in Specialist in Fundamental Issues in Language Teaching and Learning. I am also a nurse (LPN).
We will be using a program called Rockalingua. This program has free activities that can be done at home for review and they are a lot of fun. They are completely in Spanish. A flyer from Scholastic, Club Leo, will be sent home. Many of the books in this flyer are bilingual. We learn basic prayers in Spanish. The children have the opportunity to say the prayers during morning announcements in the intercom. The sixth grade kids will research an influential person from each of the Spanish-speaking countries and adopt his or her name. The Spanish class is full of songs, games, stories, culture, and fun.
